iPhone rockets to space for out of this world marriage proposal

By Alan Pearcy | Posted: June 13, 2012
John Glenn wasn’t the first person to rocket into outer space, but he was the first American to ever orbit the Earth when he took to the Friendship 7 on Feb. 20, 1962. The mission earned Glenn a rightful place in the history books as a national hero.

The same could be said of the iPhone. Well, minus the whole national hero part.

While it’s certainly not the first Apple product ever launched into space, three cosmos aficionados made sure that this smartphone's journey—coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Mr. Glenn’s original orbit—provided the world with an inspiring message—and perhaps the first intergalactic marriage proposal in the process. More on that here.
