YouTube launches film rental service in the U.K.

By | Posted: October 10, 2011
Online video giant YouTube will launch a film rental service in the U.K., offering its audience a legal way to stream more than 1,000 of the latest movie releases.

In a blog post, YouTube said that partners providing movies for the U.K. service include Universal, Lionsgate, and Entertainment One, as well as independent British filmmakers, such as Metrodome and Revolver Entertainment.

New releases will cost £3.49 to rent, while library titles will be £2.49. Users have 30 days to begin watching a film, and 48 hours to finish it once they start.
