KFC plans to replace its iconic slogan

By Alan Pearcy | Posted: February 21, 2011
Heading to KFC for some that of that “finger lickin’ good” chicken? Enjoy it while you can, because soon the finger lickin’ good part will be gone.

No, the fast-food chain isn’t switching recipes. It’s changing the iconic slogan “Finger Lickin’ Good” to “So Good.”

Brand Republic reports that KFC has decided to not only display calories on the menu (as it pledged this past September), but also offer new items with less fat and salt, and fewer calories.

The Department of Health in the U.K. is currently negotiating with food retailers to display more nutrition information, according to Brand Republic.

While it’s not the first time KFC has retired its slogan—it was restored in 2008 following a nine-year absence—it is a new step that takes the chain and its 800 locations in a new direction.

Martin Shuker, managing director of KFC U.K. and Ireland, said: “We're excited to be launching ‘So Good,’ because it's much more than just a new slogan. It's about becoming better at everything we do, including our great tasting food, the work we do with our people, and the way we operate in the local community.”

Just don’t take our extra crispy, or you’ll soon have a revolt on your hand.
